Q&A with Carla Wells
Q: What’s your favorite part of the job?
Carla: Honestly, I love the chance to play “hero” for our customers. When someone calls in confused or stressed because their alarm system is going off, I get to walk them through troubleshooting—whether it’s disarming or bypassing the system. The relief in their voice when everything’s resolved is priceless, and it makes my day. I also love chatting with our senior clients. Sometimes, I may be the only person they talk to that day, and being able to brighten their day means a lot to me.
Q: What’s one thing that makes you proud to work here?
Carla: It’s the way we all pull together as a team. We have different personalities, but when it comes to customer service, we’re united. We give 110% every day. Because we’re a smaller company, we really value our clients, and we’re not shy about showing it. It feels good to know we provide quality products with stellar support, giving customers peace of mind to feel safe in their homes and protect their businesses.
Q: What do you like about the work environment and culture?
Carla: I love the small-company atmosphere. We’re professional with vendors and clients, but there’s plenty of laughter, too. The technicians test my sense of humor daily, and the ladies in the office treat me like family—they cheer me on, surprise me with gifts, and support me both professionally and personally. Since I’m newer to the industry, I’ve had to ask about a thousand questions, and everyone has been so patient teaching me the ins and outs of product lines, troubleshooting, and software. It’s a great environment to learn and grow.
Q: Can you share a fun fact or tell us about your hobbies?
Carla: I love to bake! My family has definitely become spoiled with fresh brownies, breads, and cookies. Music is also a huge part of my life. I love catching live shows, and now that my younger kids are becoming adults, they tag along with me to concerts. When I’m with friends, you’ll probably find me at a karaoke bar or deep into a board or card game—where my competitive streak definitely shows. Fun fact: I’m a bit of a daredevil, and I’ll do just about anything (at my own expense!) to get a laugh.
Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Carla: Raising five kids, mostly as a single mom, tops the list. They continue to amaze and humble me with their strength and success stories. Seeing bits of myself in their personalities—whether it’s wit, strength, or generosity—has been the greatest gift. Life can be chaotic, but the blessings and laughs far outweigh the chaos. On a personal level, I’m proud of my adaptability across different industries. No matter where I’ve worked, I’ve always strived to contribute to the success of the team, and I hope my coworkers remember me for my work ethic and warmth.
Q: Do you have a personal motto or guiding outlook?
Carla: No matter what I’m going through—sunshine or storm—I try to offer a genuine smile and warmth to everyone I meet. That’s just who I want to be.
